PERC organised an educational visit to the North Butterworth Container Terminal of Penang Port Sdn Bhd on 24th July 2008. A total of 18 people participated, a majority of them MNCC members and UUM lecturers. Participants were briefed on the computer facilities and systems supporting the management of container cargo in the port, in particular the PELKON III system, a highly customised container terminal management system developed uniquely to meet the operational requirements of NBCT. Participants were also taken to the control room and the wharf area to enable a first hand look of the physical set up and operations of containers at NBCT. Participants found the visit very interesting, educational and useful.
